“Excellent rooms, restaurant, staff and location. A real treat”
The room was lovely and the breakfast was good. We also ate at the restaurant, including the tasting menu, and the food was really very good. There was nothing to dislike.
“Lovely place as near beautiful beaches”
The food was excellent, though quite pricey. The road outside our room was dangerous to walk on.
“Generally very good with excellent food and service. Recommended”
Food and staff interactions were very good. The room was adequate a bit sparse considering description. Location good despite immediate isolated spot had easy car access to the general area and amenities. The shower was less than clean with mold evident at tile joints and around shower base. Internet and phone reception was none existent for whole stay. Told staff a few times the wi fi was rubbish and was met with surprise even though other guests were having same issues. Offers to look into it failed to make a difference
“Disappointing apart from the food”
The place was clean, but the room was tiny – so small you couldn’t put a bedside table on one side. I hit my head on the roof more than once. Breakfast wasn’t served until 8:30 am, which we missed because we had to be up, and they wouldn’t take it off the bill. It might have been nice to know about the late start time before booking.
“A pleasant 3 night stay”
There was a torch to walk from the restaurant to the room at night. The staff were mostly excellent. The en‑suite bedroom and restaurant were generally comfortable and clean, and tables and chairs were cleaned well between guests. A welcoming beautiful rose was on each breakfast/dining table. The meals used quality ingredients, and the de‑caffeinated coffee in the restaurant was lovely. The fine‑dining meals were good, but we would have preferred more vegetables than the typical fine‑dining selection. The meals were well adapted to accommodate food intolerances. Externally the building is a beautiful grade II listed structure. Breakfast felt relaxing and was a good start to each day. The alternative ketchups were lovely. The location is at a road junction in the countryside but has easy access to the surrounding area. The building’s history was shown in photographs, and a female staff member kindly took time to explain them. Our stay improved and ended on a much better note. However, the start was not great: I’m allergic to feathers and wool, yet these materials were on the bed when we arrived despite notifying The Swan. At dinner I asked for a glass of wine, but it was forgotten. I asked for non‑runny yolks for breakfast, but both were runny. The same eggs were further cooked and returned to the table, which I did not expect. Walking from the cottage bedroom to the restaurant on the road is difficult because there is no path. It would help to have hooks to hang bath towels and a heated towel rail. The room and food were expensive, but probably in line with the area. After a long drive/day, my husband and I just wanted a hearty bowl of soup and a roll, but only fine dining was offered.
