We have never met such a friendly host; we especially recommend him because people like that are hard to find these days.

The spot felt very authentic, but we couldn’t pay by card and the name at the entrance didn’t match the booking listing.

Vác is a charming town that proudly preserves its past even in the 21st century; if you want to experience the meeting of old and new, Fónagy and Walter Guest and Wine House is ideal. The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre, the Váci Cathedral, and the Danube River Market, and because we were on a bike tour, the EV6 bike path was also very close. As soon as you enter the gate you see that you’re in a special place: the town’s historical artifacts and fine art surround everything. Even the courtyard and flower‑filled garden feel like an outdoor gallery. The accommodation itself is not just a room but a living space, furnished with antiques and decorated with valuable paintings on the walls, a paradise for lovers of history and art. The host also considered modern needs: there’s Wi‑Fi and cable TV for those who want it. The bathroom is well equipped, and breakfast was included in the price, which we enjoyed outside on the courtyard because of the nice weather. The breakfast was generous and varied, and the host was ready to meet any special requests, though we had none. The host was especially kind and eager to help in every way. It was a nostalgic, heart‑warming experience to rest here, all at a very reasonable price. There was nothing that disappointed us.

The location is excellent, the host is welcoming, and because the weather allowed it, the outdoor courtyard breakfast was superb, served with antique décor. The accommodation suits travelers who appreciate or don’t mind the age of the building. We have nothing to complain about; the stay matched the posted photos.

If you choose this place, don’t expect luxury; the real treasure is the host himself, with his extraordinary friendliness and always warm smile. The unique flea‑market vibe of this more than 130‑year‑old house is one‑of‑a‑kind, delivers many wow moments, and will stay in your memory for sure.
