The secluded spot overlooking the bay of Mull was wonderful. The room felt like a time capsule—super.

Breakfast was excellent and satisfied every need; the presentation was very good. The staff were charming and helpful. Small annoyances: no shower cap, no hand shower in the bath, and poor lighting in the bathroom for makeup.

After 16 days of traveling across Scotland and staying at several great hotels, Mingary Castle stood out as the absolute highlight. The setting is simply spectacular—ideal for nature lovers who crave peace, solitude, and dramatic coastal views. The castle itself is beautifully restored, blending history, luxury, and warmth in a genuine way. What made the stay truly exceptional was the hospitality: Eva was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating, especially toward our kids, making us feel more like family than guests. The food deserves special mention—we enjoyed both the 7‑course and 10‑course tasting menus, which were outstanding, matching many one‑Michelin‑star restaurants we’ve visited. Every meal felt like an event, and breakfast was equally remarkable—one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. Our top‑floor suite overlooked the castle walls and the sea beyond, offering breathtaking views that made waking up a privilege. The kids were enchanted, exploring the grounds and especially fond of the two small goats that roamed outside. It’s rare to find any room for improvement, and this stay was faultless from start to finish. We left wishing we’d stayed longer and are already hunting for a reason to return. The only downside was that we were only there for 3 nights.

The setting was dramatic, the hospitality first‑class, and the food and service impeccable. Nothing negative.
