“It’s an excellent stay, the owner upgraded us to a larger room without any extra charge. It’s a non smoking facility.”

It’s very quiet and quaint with the African huts for rooms and suites, and the rooms have mosquito nets. The windows and doors aren’t screened, so insects come in, especially if you open the windows at night. I kept all the windows closed and didn’t get any fresh air all night.

The customer service was friendly and proactive, breakfast was included, and they arranged another driver with a larger vehicle who did an excellent job taking us to Masi Mara and Nairobi. The rainy season made the room somewhat cold and I’d have liked a heater. The lodge keeper Brian tried to create an itinerary for our drive back to Nairobi with an overnight at a safari camp we’d booked for one night in the Masai Mara, which sounded too good to be true. The driver didn’t know the route he needed to take and was driving the safe asphalt route that missed some of the promised sights we’d been quoted for. When he learned about the itinerary, he altered his route, taking us onto dangerous back roads; we got stuck twice in the rain, but several helpful people got us unstuck. We eventually reached the Mara River, which was washed out, and missed almost all the sights we’d been promised, along with a nonrefundable one‑night safari for two people that was very disappointing.

The staff were friendly, but the mosquitoes were terrible. There was no microwave, refrigerator, or air conditioner, and the building had no elevator. This was both my first and last visit.

I had a wonderful stay here, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and exceptional service from the staff. The quiet surroundings really helped me unwind. Overall, it was a great experience.
