It felt like a home, so I didn’t worry about time. Even though the kitchen was shared, I could cook and eat Aomori rice. I slept soundly. The price was reasonable and the owner was friendly. I was a bit uneasy about not being able to watch Aomori TV and the security situation.

The traditional room had clean tatami and comfortable bedding, though we added an extra mattress layer. We made our own beds using the supplied materials. When we left, the house emitted a very unpleasant odor—gas, humidity, and the age of the building. The owners left windows open to mask the smell, making it extremely cold; we kept our coats on and our noses were frozen. Luckily the room had a heater we could use, but the rest of the house didn’t. It was too cold for showers, and the odor made it uninviting. Extra fees were charged for towels and parking, which is private to the house, so that felt “cheap” for the price already paid. The rest of the house looked dilapidated, as if unfinished renovations were still pending. The good reviews for this place didn’t make sense to us.

The dinner‑making experience was great and the venison was delicious; I also met travel companions and the owner couple were very nice. Privacy felt lacking: the washroom had no lock and no “in use” sign, so I was nervous about others entering while I was changing; the room’s shoji had a lock that could only be opened from the inside, and the key only secured the shoji itself, so sliding it could let you slip into other rooms—overall the security could be better.

It was super quiet, perfect for me time, and the host lived next door and was very friendly and responsive to any issues. My room didn’t have a power outlet, which was a bit inconvenient, but I could charge in the common area.

今回は、母と弘前でルーツの調査と観光のためにこの宿をとりました。 はじめての民泊だったため、勝手がわからないところがありましたが、宿のご主人から説明があり不自由なく過ごすことができました。 旅行直前にこちらの宿を決めたため、この宿の本質である「狩猟」「石窯」「きのこ」「山歩き」などを今回は体験できず。。。（もともと日程的に無理でしたが…） 次回伺うときは、このあたりも楽しめたらなと思っています。 特に12月の鴨は絶品らしいので！. 民泊であることを考えれば十分です。いや十分すぎます。 今回は、2泊目が他の方と共同生活でしたが、特にお互いストレスを感じることなく過ごせたと思います。 もし、他の方と一緒にしたくないということでしたら、貸し切りも可能とのことでしたので、早めに連絡すればいいのではないかと思います。
