The team greeted me warmly and even made sure I got a quiet room away from the lifts, exactly what I asked for. The only drawback was the lack of a spa or wellness centre, plus there was no coffee machine in the room for those who prefer instant coffee.

Everything was a lovely place to stay, simple and pleasant. The only downside was that the room was quite cold and I couldn’t figure out how to get the air‑con to blow hot air; it was a disabled room on the ground floor. Staff came and went, walking down metal stairs that were noisy and slamming doors beside the room. Despite that, it’s a beautiful place and the staff are fabulous, doing everything they can for you. I would definitely return. Thanks, Clontarf Castle 🏰

“A lovely one night stay”

We booked a single night in Dublin by the water, and the hotel’s proximity to the airport was handy for our early flight. The place itself was lovely, the staff were accommodating, breakfast was delicious, and the bar was nice. We dined at a nearby restaurant for dinner, and the rooms were comfortable.

“Check sleep comfort well before retiring for the night so that reception can assist.”

Very clean room, great buffet breakfast, friendly staff, and grand decor throughout. Ample parking and proximity to the airport a bonus. Our main priority for staying anywhere is to have a comfortable night’s sleep. Unfortunately, after travelling for a month, staying here was the worst sleep we experienced. The only pillows available felt like large bricks and were unusable. Could I have called reception on the middle of the night? Yes, and I’m sure they would have been helpful but we were so exhausted by the time we realised how unsuitable they all were and in a state of sleep-deprived disarray. It would have been preferable to have effective pillows in the first place - at least a standard size stored in the room. Coupled with a frequently white-flashing fire alarm directly above the bed, this made it very difficult to sleep. I’m not sure why it was flashing white as fire alarms usually flash red and therefore don’t impact on sleep. I ended up sleeping with a rolled up jumper as a pillow and pulled the hood over my eyes to shield from the white flashing light. There was also no toilet brush in the bathroom. There was a wedding there on arrival, with the smoking area directly left of the front entrance so prepare to breathe in cigarette smoke
