I was excited about staying at this relatively new youth hostel because many hotels don't offer vegetarian and vegan options at the buffet, yet when we called we were told there was no vegetarian alternative because fish was served, and no vegan option was mentioned. The chef later explained that we had the wrong wristbands for the vegan alternative. At breakfast, vegan items were only available on request, and many were packaged in small plastic containers, which seemed unsustainable for a modern hostel. The rooms were good, the location quiet, the bicycle room handy, the bistro cozy, and the seating area at the entrance comfortable, and the food was inexpensive.

We booked a double room but were handed a 5‑person bunk room, and there were no vacant rooms to switch to on the spot; the fact that rooms are assigned randomly wasn’t mentioned. Not everyone knows what DJH and HI mean, and the fee information is buried in the amenities list. Breakfast was a modest buffet with limited variety.

De kamer was ruim, schoon en mooi. De badkamer en de douche waren top en er zat ook een aparte wc in de kamer. Het ontbijt was prima, al was het jammer dat bepaalde dingen (sommige broodjes en jam) niet meer werden aangevuld toen ze op waren, ondanks dat het ontbijt nog 45 minuten door zou gaan. We wisten dat het een jeugdherberg was, maar de kinderen die er waren maakten wel erg veel geluid 's avonds. Op zich is dit de verantwoordelijkheid van de docent en niet van de accommodatie, maar het was wel even matig dat er rond 22:00 schreeuwende tieners over de gang renden

“Prima stop voor als je aan het wandelen bent”

The owner was very kind and let us order food to eat in the restaurant because we were too tired after a long walk to go back to the village. We didn’t realize beforehand that a sort of subscription to youth hostels was required, so we had to pay extra on the spot. We also thought we could have dinner, but that had to be arranged in advance. When we lost a hat and later called for it, the staff weren’t very helpful, which was a pity (the owner herself was not involved).
