The place is super close to Tempel 13 on the 88-Tempel-Pilgerweg, and the host was friendly. On the downside, it was quite dirty and grimy.

The old gentleman was extremely warm and tried to help with everything after check‑in, making me feel very welcome; the dinner and breakfast were generous, and the value was excellent enough to soothe a whole day’s fatigue. When leaving, he even taught me how to properly carry a traveling backpack, which was really useful.

Nothing stood out positively; the cleaning needs improvement—especially the men's bath area, which was clearly not cleaned and covered in dust. The hotel entrance was cluttered like a family home, and a family‑type group was washing a car right in front, making it hard for guests to get in, with no one stepping in. People were eating ramen and chatting in the lobby, and a bunch of tough‑looking youths gathered near the entrance, creating a chaotic scene. Despite the name, it was just a place to sleep.

Even though I couldn’t speak any Japanese, the staff greeted me warmly around 10 pm, and because there’s a bus to Tokushima Station, I’d recommend this budget‑friendly spot during the Awa Odori period.

Staying alone works fine here; I only spent one night and never used the shared bath, and because I went out late I appreciated the free parking, plus the town center is just over 10 km away so a taxi ride is easy if you want to go out for drinks, and I managed to snag a room for a little over 6,000 yen during the busy Obon period. The place isn’t suited for guests who need a private bathroom or a bed‑less room, and if you don’t bring a car you’ll end up relying on taxis since public transport is practically nonexistent (the city is only about 10 km away).
