The hotel was close to the wedding venue, but the parking lot was very small, poorly lit, and the driveway entrance was difficult at night; the room door shared a deadbolt, the TV was on, and the freezer in the fridge was full of ice. I went down to speak with staff about the room issue, and he came up and stayed in the room for about 5 awkward minutes while we prepared for the wedding, which was the second time he left the front desk with a note and returned in 5 minutes. The building feels outdated and overpriced, with a bleach smell everywhere, even in the pillows. It was homecoming weekend in Decorah, but the price hike for the weekend was unfair to travelers and other event guests, and the desk staff couldn’t locate my reservation even after I showed the confirmation number; I was booked under my middle name, and I don’t know if that was a fault of the staff or the system.
