“Beautiful facilities, room and view, but far away and unhelpful staff. I don't recommend if alone.”
The hotel itself is beautiful, the view from the balcony overlooking the pool and river is breathtaking and the facilities overall were very nice. Loved all the hangers and clothing drying hooks for doing my own laundry, that was very practical. The staff spoke no English at all and on two separate occasions they were banging on my door, once stressing for cash to pay for the room 1 h after checking in and telling me I could pay tomorrow since I had no cash on me, and another time waking me up and barging into my room to change a light fixture. I do think if there had been at least one staff member who spoke English it would have been less stressful on my end. Also the place was supposed to be a hostel, so I expected some socializing and it said there was a restaurant/bar, but it seemed like it was only family hanging around? There seemed to be no one my age (young adult) and not one guest or staff member who spoke English. Also the bar and restaurant didn't seem to be open. It was a lot further from town than I anticipated and I wasn't comfortable doing the walk alone at night, but the hotel didn't offer any support for tuktuks or taxis or any activity bookings overall.
