“Good place to stay, above expectations.”

The room was fine and the hotel sits right in the centre, with staff who were all friendly and went out of their way for me, plus a nice live music set in the evenings featuring a great female singer and her uncle on keyboards; I didn’t sample the breakfast, though the carpet and sofa could use a deep clean or replacement despite the room being tidy.

I stayed in the city center and liked the location, but the bathroom door was broken even though a spare key could close it; the sofa had stains that made it look dirty. When we booked we thought there would be a pool, but there wasn’t. The price didn’t match the 3‑star rating. Breakfast on the first day was delivered to the room; on the second day the buffet was mainly carbs: white rice, fried rice, fried vermicelli, potato wedges, and breaded fried chicken. If you only want plain rice, the only side is chicken, no vegetable options. There was a salad station, but it’s not a substitute for rice sides. The lontong soup was a bit salty, and the main dishes could have been more varied.

“Unlikely to stay at this hotel again”

A bottle of beer at the hotel restaurant cost 150,000 rupiah, which was outrageously pricey, while the same bottle outside the hotel was only 50,000 rupiah.

“Kotanya menyenangkan. Kecil dan mudah dijangkau dengan jalan kaki dari hotel.”

The hotel is right in the middle of Sawah Lunto city, very close to several cool museums about the history of coal mining in Ombilin, and right in front of the hotel there are many clean, inexpensive snack stalls.
