“Prijzig voor een matrasje”
The surroundings are close to the walk to Prekestuhle, and the parking lot is convenient. There are no facilities in the tent, just a mattress and electricity, and there isn’t even a toilet within normal walking distance.
It’s nice for climbing Gaustatoppen and very scenic beside the lake, but it’s hard to move luggage back and forth to where we stayed, even with the borrowed trolley.
The access was problematic.
The staff were friendly and the place sits at the trailhead for the Fraikestolen hike. I originally booked a campsite, found it unsuitable, and asked for a room upgrade; luckily there was a vacancy and the staff kindly moved me up. However, the campsite turned out to be just a bare‑bones spot with no facilities or gear, so I had to bring everything myself and eventually upgrade to a proper room.
“Back to basics en met regen net iets comfortabeler dan een klein tentje”
The basic setup was fine, but the showers and toilets on the premises were defective, so you had to use facilities about 300 meters away; the distance itself was fine, but with a price increase of more than 15 % you shouldn’t have to go that far 🫣😇 A nice base for Preikestolen, the menu choice at the restaurant/hotel was excellent. The “knutten” were present in large numbers the morning after a rainy day; a good anti‑mosquito spray 🦟 is recommended.
