“A terrific hotel.”
Everything at the Falcon is so good; the location is terrific too, and our room offered an excellent view of the churchyard with its beautiful Yews. Nothing.

A lovely old building with lots of character; the room was well appointed and the bathroom was lovely, but the road noise was so bad I hardly slept all night. The windows are old and single pane, and the road is right outside, so every car, motorbike, bus and lorry sounded like it was in the room. The window was covered only by a thin blind but really needs a thick lined curtain at the very least to at least try to diminish the level of noise. This was supposed to be the best room in the hotel (The Suite) but guests should be pre‑warned about the noise – I would have happily moved rooms just to get a decent night’s sleep.

The historic building was charming and kept in good shape. Our room was huge, featuring a large king bed with a snug duvet. The reception and restaurant staff were excellent and friendly, even carrying our bags to the room after a long hike on the Cotswold Way, which was a nice touch. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

The spot right across from the churchyard is fantastic, and the bar area is comfortable if you can snag a seat. However, the price was outrageous for a small, basic room that offered no amenities. The fan was filthy, covered in dust, and I couldn't use it. There was no iron in the room, and I couldn't call reception to ask for one. A fresh coat of paint and a general makeover would help. Since it was three times the cost of similar places in Painswick, the location alone doesn't justify it. The staff were friendly but clearly swamped with guests. The meal at the restaurant was also underwhelming.
