The staff were friendly. Breakfast was ordinary—fruit, bread, omelette. The room’s view was decent, the room itself was fine, and the bed was comfortable. There were no fans or AC, but that wasn’t needed in Nuwara. Climbing three floors to the restaurant without a lift was a hassle. The bathroom toilet seat was too small for my taste. The photos looked newer than the place actually is. Walking from downtown meant climbing a hill.

The room we received didn’t match the pictures. The hotel didn’t impress me. The path to the hotel ran next to a smelly drain. Even though breakfast was included, they added a charge when we ordered an extra omelette. Usually other hotels that include breakfast don’t bill for such extras.

The hotel needs a makeover; the rooms and facilities are very old. The sockets don’t work well, and there was only a small portable heater, which is too little for the climate. The room was very cold, the bathroom window couldn’t close, and a lot of air came in through the other window; there was also a lot of mold in the bathroom. The mattresses were uncomfortable, and the springs were noticeable.
