Asela and her family were very hospitable and friendly. The resort is beautiful, with a pool to relax after the days of sightseeing and the heat. Breakfast was very good. You can walk to some restaurants, even though they warn you to be careful with elephants, we had no problems. There is a slightly pricier restaurant in the resort, but it’s useful if you don’t feel like going out. If you go to the Spice Garden that Asela offers, don’t feel obliged to buy anything or get a massage there; they share interesting stories but then try to sell very expensive products. You can take a bus to Dambulla for about 100 rs, so the site is a good base camp option.
