We really enjoyed our stay there! The host was very friendly and helped us a lot with arranging our trip to Ella (buses can be confusing in Sri Lanka😄). We also highly recommend having lunch or dinner there; the host’s wife is an amazing cook! The hotel sits just outside town, right next to Yoda Lake. If you want a peaceful place close to nature, this is it! The only downside is that, because it’s near the lake, the beds could use mosquito nets.

A cozy spot right in the middle of nature, with a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast and a very friendly host, plus a comfortable bed and a warm shower.

Rice Cabanas Yala is just outside Tissamaharama, wonderfully quiet amid rice paddies. The town itself isn’t very touristy. Rice Cabanas has two basic, clean rooms, surrounded by a lovely garden full of birds, and in the paddies you see geckos and often lizards. The host and hostess are kind people who want to arrange everything for you. We spent half a day at Yala National Park, saw many animals like lizards, mangoes, elephants, deer, a leopard, and various birds. The wife runs a cooking school, but on request she also prepares the best authentic Sri Lankan curry meals. A real recommendation. We were very happy to have booked here. We were very satisfied, though a shower curtain would be nice.😃
