Champers Motor Inn

“Abysmal wouldn't stay again.”

Nothing positive. I would never stay here again. At 10 pm on Saturday night a rock band played on a lawn outside our motel beside our room. The motel is very run down, though the interior is clean. There are very few power points, no wifi or sky, and not even wine glasses. They claim it’s a conference center, but no one should ever try to work from here.

I was extremely disappointed with Champers. I arrived with a confirmed booking, only to be told my reservation was cancelled because of a “failed credit card”—which was completely false, as my card was active and valid. While waiting, I saw another family in the lobby who were given the same fake excuse. Because Wellington was fully booked, they turned us away without accommodation just to resell our rooms at inflated last‑minute rates. Leaving families stranded during high‑demand events is completely unethical and unacceptable. Avoid booking here if you want a guaranteed place to stay.

“Enjoyable time had by all.”

Very tidy, well appointed room with an excellent shower. Nothing. Exactly what we needed.

Not a lot. The entrance to the unit was grubby. The room was averagely clean but not inviting. There was no chair, and when one was requested a cold metal dining chair was given. Linoleum was lifting in the bathroom floor with mould underneath. The unit needs an upgrade from its 60s look.

“I Enjoyed my stay and will book again.”

I like the location and quietness of the motel. The room size was good
