“A FUIR ABSOLUMENT”
The location was fine, but we stayed in the Waterloo and Austerlitz rooms and cannot recommend this place. We have photos for each point. Upon arrival, a young man in flip‑flops, a sports short, and a tee‑shirt greeted us, setting the tone, though he was kind. The room décor consisted of tasteless reclaimed items, like beer brand lounge chairs covered with a simple sheet. Work seemed unfinished: exposed wires near the lights and linoleum laid directly on the floor to hide a bad condition. A sauna was even installed in the middle of the kitchen. The shutters couldn’t be opened or lowered properly; the installation was very shaky. The bedding in the Austerlitz room was actually two foam mattresses stacked on a frame; the host said real mattresses would be ordered. In the kitchen, visibly dirty knives that looked like they were used to cut wood were left out. To reach the rooms, you had to walk through corridors cluttered with furniture, crumpled sheets, and unemptied trash cans. We didn’t even try the garden, which seemed as poorly maintained as the rest of the guesthouse. We also skipped breakfast after seeing enough of the place. Finally, a 2.50 € per person tourist tax was charged, while the 2026 rate is 0.83 € per person, a figure we verified with the tourist office. The place has huge potential, but it’s not being used as it deserves.
