“Sehr guter Aufenthalt, Personal spitze,”
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is good, but the hotel feels a bit old‑fashioned.

The location is good, but the hotel is falling apart—wear and tear, a door fell off the toilet stall, and the water was shut off all afternoon so the toilet was unusable. Service is minimal, and when you ask for anything the answer is always no. It’s far too expensive for the quality.

The hotel is remote, only reachable by train or on foot / by bike, which made the stay feel very secluded because there were few guests. We were there just for the night to split the famous ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ trip. It isn’t wheelchair accessible: my mom could push her walker up the steep gravel driveway from the train station but then had to climb stairs to reception and down to the dining room; the bathroom isn’t wheelchair friendly either. The dinner buffer costs over 600 NOK per person, which is expected for a remote spot, and there were snacks but no simple meal option; fortunately we had leftover sandwiches from lunch.

The old high‑mountain hotel has a lot of character and the shared evening menu is nice; the Rallervegen trail is smooth and pleasant to walk on. My bed had seen better days.
