The location is great and the accommodation is very clean and convenient for a short stay. Nothing special, except that the owners might sleep downstairs.

The beds are very comfortable and everything is very pretty—feels like traveling back in time! The only thing to watch out for is that because it’s an old house, any noise is heard downstairs, so be careful not to disturb the people below.

An essential experience—this traditional house in the geisha district is something you can’t leave Japan without staying in at least one night. The house is traditional and the bathroom requires a steep staircase descent, which is very steep but should be taken into account and still appreciated.

A full immersion into Japanese culture. The “discovery” meal is included in the room price. The room is above a tea salon and access is through the middle. The toilets are on the ground floor in the tea salon. The aging air conditioning struggled to cool.

I stayed in what felt like a museum from 160 years ago, with only AC, electricity, and running water modernizing the experience—definitely the real deal.
