“A very memorable Toledo trip!”
Everything was perfect! The neighborhood wasn’t the best, but we still felt safe.

The historic mansion was stunning and had all the modern conveniences we could ask for.

The place was very comfortable and Patrick was a fantastic host. Breakfast was wonderful, but the signage could be better and more inviting.

It might look nice inside, but the surroundings are urban blight. The B&B sits amid vacant lots, boarded‑up buildings, and a rehab facility. The turret has broken glass and the front door has a boarded‑up window. I drove past twice, thinking, “This can’t be real.” The exterior photos are misleading, so I ended up staying at a regular hotel.

I’m a fan of old houses, so I was thrilled with the restoration work that’s already been done—just a bit of dust, nothing else. The spot was spot‑on, letting me hop into family events around metro and suburban Toledo without a hassle. I even walked over to a Mud Hens game, dropped by the Toledo Museum of Art and the National Museum of the Great Lakes. We’d imagined a crumbling rust‑belt city, but we found the opposite: a place reinventing itself, parks getting a makeover, the Riverfront being woven into new plans, and historic districts kept alive. The recent stir on the West End was just a handful of unruly young people, and I’m confident Toledo will pull through. All in all, we fell in love with Toledo and can’t wait to return. The host—Chef, historian, and storyteller—delivered amazing breakfasts and a home that’s clearly being lovingly restored.
