The room was very spacious and beautiful, perfect for a family, with comfortable beds and a lovely garden; it was a good base for walks and a visit to Lake Placid, about 25 minutes away by car. I would book again. We had a strange experience: arriving on the evening of 4 July, the restaurant was full. There is no front desk for guests, everything has to be handled digitally, and we didn’t receive a room number at first, though it was eventually resolved. After that evening, we hardly saw anyone during our four‑day stay, except a few other guests who seemed lost in the empty hotel: the restaurant was empty, no one at the bar, and no front desk. We heard someone cleaning in the hallway, but otherwise the hotel seemed deserted. We were also there during the World Cup when the US played, but we just sat with our family watching TV in the lobby (which we set up ourselves).
