“Awful!!!”

The location is fine. The room was never cleaned during our four‑day stay even after we pointed it out. I would never recommend this hotel.

“Short stay Kirkwall, Orkney”

The staff were helpful when we arrived late and kept our bags for us to leave after the ferry. The hotel sits in the centre of Kirkwall and the breakfasts feature local produce. The beds are clean and comfortable. The room feels old‑fashioned and worn out, and the bathroom needs an upgrade because the toilet is hard to flush and noisy. There should be bedside lamps instead of overhead ones that require you to get out of bed to turn them off; if you’re 5’2” you can’t reach the switch.

“Lovely hotel, lovely reception staff, and evening meal, shame about the breakfast.”

The receptionist was lovely when I arrived, and the dinner was kindly brought to my room. I could only book a room with breakfast, so I needed a place to stay. Because breakfast was included in my payment, I went to the restaurant for it. When I asked to sit in a quiet corner, the staff said it wasn’t possible, so I left without eating.

The staff, the ambiance of the main rooms, the breakfast, the bar. The room I had was cramped and musty, the window stayed open my entire visit. Although the carpet looked new, maintenance was lacking, such as issues with the shower door, burned out light bulbs, and loose hanging wall lamps that looked as if previous guests had used them to hang heavy coats.

“Übernachtung in Kirkwall”

Good, central location. The double bed was terribly narrow; I've never slept in such a tight bed. Breakfast was extremely sparse; there was no sausage, ham or cheese.
