The proximity to the metro station was convenient. It was a small room with a bathroom, but it had a balcony with a seating area in a private house in the Gaia residential district. For a three‑day city trip to Porto, it was an inexpensive, simple accommodation. From the metro station, six stops to Douro Bridge… Old Town. The listed parking spots are public parking on the streets, both dead‑ends, in front of and behind the house.

I was greeted warmly by the owner, and the service was friendly; the equipment was complete, the bed was good, and the metro was close. The surroundings were very quiet.

The location was close to the port where we spent a day on the way. We were able to check in earlier, which was nice. The host was quite friendly. Unfortunately, the stay disappointed us. The stairs to the upper floor were cluttered with the guests’ own belongings, giving an untidy and unhygienic feel. It also smelled musty, and there were several issues such as holes in the wall, lamps hanging oddly, and a non‑working air‑conditioner. The room had an electric citronella plug, and the scent was so strong it made me feel a little uncomfortable, though it seemed necessary. We had also booked this place partly because the description said we could park our car on a secured lot. Upon arrival, that wasn’t possible; a car was already on the lot, and several cars blocked the access. It was doable for one night, but honestly, we were glad to be able to leave the next morning.
