The location was amazing, the onsen was fantastic, and the cable car was a lot of fun. The food at the restaurant was good but not spectacular.
“Lovely stay”
The hotel sits in a beautiful valley and the breakfast and dinner were nice and interesting. Keep in mind that there is no lift; many stairs lead to the outdoor onsen, especially after the cable car.
“An oasis of comfort”
From our balcony we could see a beautiful gorge, and the room felt relaxing right away. We liked the remedial massage chair, though it was a little small for my 6 ft husband. The outdoor bathtub was tranquil and the water was lovely and soft, and we appreciated the L’Occitaine products. The multi‑course meals were plentiful, beautifully presented, and the service was good. We booked mainly for the outdoor onsen by the river and it lived up to expectations. The onsen closes early; a cable car is needed to reach it, so if you want to use it in the evening, make sure you take the 6 pm slot for dinner. The lack of a lift will limit people with mobility issues, but the staff are happy to help carry luggage if needed.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the mountain view and location were amazing. The food was great and they happily accommodated dietary requirements. However, it was quite expensive and the private onsen was not in operation during our stay.
“A very special onsen in a slightly remote spot”
The outdoor onsen was a one‑off experience and the food was amazing. The staff were wonderful. The descent to the onsen is not for the faint‑hearted, and the onsen isn’t very hot – some guests were disappointed, but for a Westerner 38 °C was hot enough for me.
