The surroundings were beautiful and the apartment was tastefully decorated, but the ceiling was paper‑thin and anything happening above you slipped past your notice; the lady insisted on cash payment, refused the Genius discount, and added a 10 % surcharge for the accommodation fee, forcing us to nod along with the unfair terms while on the road with family. The apartment seemed rarely used, full of cobwebs, dust on the shelves, and the sink trash didn’t even smell good.
“Sehr gut Unterkunft und Lage für einen Skiurlaub.”
The location is peaceful and there is a private parking spot, but the kitchen lacks a toaster, soup ladle, and bread knife.
The location was good.
“4 jours rêvés dans un décor idéal”
The owners were always on hand to answer questions, the apartment had everything you need plus a sauna, and the quiet around the house and the charming village of Božídár with its forest cross‑country ski trails were a real delight. We loved everything and will return; it reminded us of the Franco‑Swiss Jura. We left our car for three days because everything was within walking distance, only making main purchases in Oberwiesenthal on the German side where the supermarket offered more variety. The only downside was that we visited on a weekend when the snow had started to melt, but that had nothing to do with the holiday cottage. I strongly advise against the Hranice bar‑restaurant next to the alpine ski slopes because we encountered a very unpleasant server who only wanted chips with our aperitif. On the other hand, the Červený Vlk (Roter Wolf) brasserie is worth recommending for its dishes and hospitality, and they have a wide selection of tasty beers.
“Nadherne a klidne. Doporucuji. Apa byl velky, prostorny a domaci jsou ochotni a prijemni lidi.”
We really enjoyed ourselves there; it wasn’t overpriced, there were plenty of restaurants, a quiet spot, and good options for lovely walks. We’ll definitely come back next year, just if there’s snow. I think we could have used the garden, the kids played in the snow, and I sipped coffee by the large balcony window—awesome! The only thing I didn’t like was that it’s better to go via Ostrov; the route through Klinovec offers no advantage for the front.
