The breakfast and evening meals were excellent, and the staff made everything hassle‑free; the last few miles by car from either side are not for the faint‑hearted because the road is narrow, single‑track and mostly farm‑tracked with passing places, but the B&B/pub sits in a very rural, picturesque spot with plenty of nearby walking options, and everyone—staff and guests—was very friendly.

The letting room(s) were roomy, comfortable, and had everything you’d need for a pleasant stay. The staff were helpful throughout, and the traditional cooked breakfast was excellent. The only downside was that there was fruit juice before the cooked breakfast, but no buffet‑style cereals or pastries.

The place was so cosy and lovely! As first‑time visitors to the Lake District, we didn’t realise how remote it was, but that turned out to be a blessing. After a long, wet drive, the warm welcome made us abandon our plans to eat elsewhere and stay in. The food was freshly cooked, generous, and great value for money, unlike the overpriced gastro pubs with tiny portions we’re used to. The team was incredibly friendly, and we couldn’t fault anything.
