The Petit Manoir de la Berthenlaire sits just a stone’s throw from Boulogne‑sur‑Mer and the Côte Opale, making it the ideal base to explore the area; the beautiful manor is now owned by the seventh generation of the Hamy family and radiates authenticity and history, with many decorative pieces and family documents in the B&B referencing that past. Sandrine and Antoine are rightly proud of what they’ve achieved and continue to maintain or renovate all the manor buildings. The large garden feels like a park, with two imposing red oaks over 300 years old completing the scene. The rooms capture the old‑world atmosphere while still offering all modern comforts within the original architectural limits, which was not an issue for us, and we had a huge bed with flawless linen. On the ground floor there’s a nice entrance hall, a sitting area with TV, a spacious breakfast room, a kitchen you can use yourself, and another lounge with a fireplace and plenty of historical context about the property and family. The owners do everything to assist you and serve a tasty, extensive, fresh breakfast with homemade or local products: fresh fruit, low‑fat cheese, four kinds of cheese, homemade pastries or pancakes, baguette, croissant, eggs, etc. We had a fantastic stay and can only highly recommend the B&B – or as the French say: mérite le détour! Nothing negative.
