Beautiful location. When we arrived, there was cat food in the fridge. I understand it was +30°C outside, but it should be the host’s food, not guests’. The host forgot to make the bed. Apparently the guests left in the morning and she was supposed to wash it and forgot the string (it can happen) but she ran to do it straight from the garden, sweaty and barefoot into the room with totally dirty feet. The bathroom lacked a door and there was an unemptied trash can from previous guests, including a used condom. Overall cleanliness was insufficient. It’s an old house and will have its bugs, which I don’t mind at all. But the dirt isn’t because the house is old.

The self‑check‑in instructions are ultra‑comprehensive and very friendly, which is essential because finding everything at night can be a real challenge. The satin bedding is cozy, and the Black Forest setting offers plenty of quiet, a few farm animals, and a stunning view. However, if you expect a modern experience, this older house might not deliver; it’s better suited for those who appreciate a more traditional vibe.

“It was stunning, I can’t fault anything”

The place is absolutely dreamy, quiet, and the people were very welcoming. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the house is spotless. We wanted a true German home rather than a generic hotel, and we got exactly that. Thanks, and we hope to return sometime.
