Communication with the owner was quick and easy, and check‑in and check‑out were self‑service; the place was clean and the balcony comfortable. The Palazzo Vecchio setting didn’t feel very secure – the second floor, narrow stair ramps with steps, no elevator – and the front of the building was dirty with a smell that only Palermo can provide (especially for a Palermo native like me who hasn’t lived there in decades), though that may not be the owner’s fault. We struggled with the coffee machine, which splashed colored water everywhere and didn’t make the desired coffee (we were in a hurry, cleaned it, and went to a bar). The TV was also not great; the only digital TV was quite unpleasant.
