It’s absolutely charming, tastefully and appropriately appointed, with beautiful grounds and a great location. There wasn’t much to complain about.

The room smelled moldy, which is a problem because I have a severe mold allergy.

The breakfast was very good, but the bed was hugely uncomfortable with a large divot on one side of the mattress, leaving my back sore from the night.

Dinner at the Borrow's House and breakfast at the Dorset Inn were exceptional; the servers and bartenders were very friendly and accommodating, and it was a nice surprise to receive dog treats, a bed, and toys for our dog. The room was a bit smaller than we had hoped for, the light switch next to the bed was broken so we couldn’t use it, and a wine opener in the kitchen area would have been nice.

The breakfast at Barrows House was incredibly generous, served at two nearby spots owned by the Inns of Dorset: Dorset Bakery, a half block away, and another location. The first morning we had plenty, so on the second we ordered a la carte and didn’t waste any good food. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful—among the best we’ve encountered on our long travels. The room was cool when we arrived and the radiators wouldn’t work, but the staff quickly increased the building’s thermostat and taught us how to adjust the radiators. That worked for the first night, but the next two nights they didn’t respond, so we just accepted the cool “sturdy New England” vibe and left the room cool at night. We had a lovely dinner at Barrows House on the first night and enjoyed our waiter Anthony. The second night we ate at another Inns of Dorset-owned spot, Pearl’s Place, a fun Southern barbecue place with huge portions, just like the breakfasts.
