The view was great, but it was also a bit disappointing.

We loved being able to read manga, play nostalgic board games, sing karaoke or hit the ping‑pong table—whether we were a family or solo, there was always something fun to do. The only drawback was that getting to the hot‑spring area or the game corner required a bit of extra walking.

It’s close to the centre of Kumamoto, but we couldn’t use the bath in the morning and the stairs to the large public bath were too steep for my elderly mother.
