I booked this place thanks to Shizuka, who turned out to be an outstanding host. We had no idea what to expect from Ishigaki, but we’re thrilled we chose this spot. Ishigaki is a tiny, local island, so having a knowledgeable local like Shizuka to make the trip special was priceless. A few things to keep in mind: the island is beautiful, especially this area, but it’s far from towns, grocery stores, and shops. Shizuka is the best host we’ve ever had—she kept our towels and linens clean, offered fresh fruit and snacks, and left gorgeous flowers by our room each morning. She and Pon the goat made the stay truly unique. It feels like you’re part of the community the whole time. The layout is simple and has everything you need. Shizuka stays on the upper floor, separate from the downstairs area that has a lovely room, patio, combined kitchen, and restroom/shower. The bathroom and shower are disconnected, but we never had any privacy concerns. Don’t expect a luxury resort vibe or high-end amenities, but you’ll feel at home and cared for by Shizuka and the local community. This was one of the most special international stays we’ve ever had, thanks to Shizuka and the warm people on the island. We hope to return soon.
