The location is great and the house is spacious. The breakfast was almost non-existent—just bread, butter, packaged buns, and pop tarts, not a real breakfast; a creamer for the coffee would have helped. The afternoon wine and snacks were a nice touch.

The bed was comfortable and it’s close to the beach. The staff dealt with the issues I had with the room. The house smelled like mildew and mold; area rugs were stained, likely from pet urine. One bathroom’s blinds were broken so you could see inside. There were holes in the ceiling covered with white plastic board held by tape that was falling apart, and the walls had too many stains. The kitchen had no stove. A very deep cleaning is needed; it’s very outdated.

It’s comfortable and close to the beach and pier. The bed was the only downside.

The location is a 10/10: a 3‑minute walk to the beach, a 3‑minute walk to a great bar and seafood spot (Awful Arthurs), a shop, the Avalon Pier with music, fishing rentals, booze, and arcade games, and Jolly Roger. We stayed three days—one of those we never left the area, it was solid. It’s a 10‑minute drive to Kitty Hawk. Nothing really negative. It’s not the Ritz, but it’s not dirty, more than adequate, and the price is fair for the location.

The location is great with wonderful ocean and sunset views. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and happy hour selections. A huge plus is that dogs are allowed. We always enjoy our stays at the Pierhouse and will definitely return. The only petty gripe: the showerhead had very low water pressure and there was no light in the shower.
