The old hunting lodge has been superbly renovated to a very high standard—everything exudes quality. It sits in a very quiet spot that was ideal for us but might not suit everyone. Breakfast was great, though the cooked portion had a long wait. The bedroom was spacious, with a nice bed and uninterrupted views of the Borders countryside. Graham, our host, was excellent and very attentive. At this price, it would have been nice to have a proper coffee machine in the room instead of just a kettle and a few sachets of basic instant coffee. The cooked breakfast was wonderful, but the one‑hour wait was almost unacceptable.
