“Too many keys”
The place was well equipped and I had booked it specifically for the washing machine. The bedside lamp didn’t work, so I had to swap it for the one on the opposite side. There was no remote for the bedroom air‑con or the TV. The patio doors opened onto a small terrace that included the washing machine, but no windows let in air, so the bedroom stayed warm. There were tiny steps everywhere, which would have been fine if I hadn’t had a shaky knee. The light switches for the living room were on the far side of the main wall next to the bathroom, so you’d walk into darkness and then have to walk to the other end of the room to turn them on—a trip hazard. The fridge‑freezer was huge, but I accidentally turned it off at the switches next to the coffee machine, so the fridge went cold. The balcony was lovely to sit on but it faced the main street and was very noisy. According to the directions, a supermarket is an 8‑minute walk away—if you’re Usain Bolt, maybe, but it had everything you needed. Beware: every taxi, no matter the distance or time of day, charged me £20 euros… even for a 5‑minute walk from the shop it was the same price 😳😳😳😳. In all the other places I’ve stayed in Italy, taxis were meter‑based, so I’m not sure if this is a Sicily thing 🤣. Another major drawback was the keys: one for the front door, one to call and operate the lift, one for the hallway door, and one for the room door… a bit excessive and a real hassle if you’re carrying anything 😳. Plus, the tiled floors let the upstairs neighbour play music well past 11 pm, which was disturbing. The lady who met me and helped me was fantastic, especially when my train was over 2 hours late and I didn’t arrive until almost midnight. She was brilliant throughout the stay 👍
