Very remote, beautiful nature, perfect for unwinding. Clean bed! You get to chat with friendly people. The little town is slowed down and enchanting for a walk. More suited for long‑term off‑grid travelers than for visitors staying 1–2 nights. No real point of contact, everyone goes behind the counter and you don’t know who’s responsible. We arrived at 18:00 and the bungalows weren’t ready. Breakfast is okay but only baguette, Nutella/jam, and coffee. For dinner we waited almost 2 hours until it finally arrived just before 22:00. They don’t really offer tours or sightseeing, and they quote absurd prices for canoes even for short trips. After a clear negotiation they let us off somewhere on an island and because the gas was empty they made us walk 1.5 km across the island to another docking point. It feels like they want to take advantage of you. The number of mosquitoes in the bungalow is something I’ve never seen comparable to in 15 years of traveling worldwide. Unfortunately the mosquito net has so many holes that you can’t close your eyes at night and get stung. The toilet seat was not installed when we moved in but was just standing in the corner. Overall it was okay, but we expected something very different (we’re not fussy!)

The DIOP family, by far the best welcome place in Casamance. It was an extraordinary experience with them. We already miss them!

Horrible stay, no sleep, no water (dripping in the shower). Nothing appreciated, horrible mattress, super hot, mosquito net torn on one bed, missing on the other, hell!

The family welcomed us very warmly. If you want a full immersion with the Senegalese people of Casamance, go for it. We loved it. If you take the ferry from Dakar to Ziginchore, it stops in Carabane where a family member can pick you up by canoe. Total change of scenery. You’ll find wellness far from the stress of modern life.
