“David ist top, das Bad ein Abenteuer – Man bekommt, was man bezahlt!”

The Diamond Resort in Kanchanaburi is exactly what you’d call a “real low‑budget classic.” With zero expectations, you can only win or at least not be disappointed. Anyone booking here should know what they’re getting into. A highlight is David, the owner: he’s very nice and straightforward – we didn’t even have to leave the usual 100‑baht key deposit. The room has a large fridge, which is gold‑worthwhile in Kanchanaburi’s heat. On the downside, luxury isn’t to be expected. The bathroom is so compact that you practically have to sit on the toilet while showering – Thai‑style multitasking! Another drawback was the lack of a fitted sheet (only a bare blanket/throw), no kettle, and cash‑only payments. Bottom line: the price‑for‑value ratio works if you’re just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep and have no comfort demands. Nothing is expected – and that’s exactly what you get. One night was fine!

“Für eine Nacht zum schlafen ist es ok.”

The place is close to a 7‑11 and a PTT gas station, and the main street offers free coffee at the reception. You can hear everything; the room is patched up, and even the TV screen was taped to the housing. The bed was hard and constantly creaked, the fridge ran all day to keep drinks cold, and the air‑conditioner was a bit loud. The wardrobe and mirror table were held together by a single screw. When I returned the key and got my 100‑baht deposit back, the staff member was unhelpful and ignored me. Don’t expect too much. I stayed for two nights.
