A beautiful beachfront stay that felt like home We stayed at Villa Lala, and our experience at Poa Poa Bungalows was special. Poa Poa takes centre stage, with Villa Lala being the icing on the cake! Our room was beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with most amenities we needed. We appreciated the water station, the well-separated bathroom and toilet, and the excellent use of natural light, which made the space feel bright and welcoming. What stood out most, however, was the hospitality. John gave us probably the best welcome we’ve received anywhere. Professional, attentive to detail and incredibly helpful, he took time to guide us around and help us settle in. That same warmth extended to the rest of the team, and the owner’s personal attention to guests made a real difference. From the moment you arrive, you feel at home. The food deserves a special mention. The fish curry, prepared with fresh local ingredients, was delicious, with a portion generous enough for two to share. The chicken tandoori was full of flavour, while the guacamole with freshly made tortilla crisps was a favourite. Portions were generous throughout, and the fresh passion juice was the best we’ve had in a long time. Enjoying live Swahili music was another highlight—a lovely way to spend an evening by the coast. During our stay, these performances were held on Mondays and Thursdays. Both properties sit right beside the beach, offering breathtaking morning views and the simple pleasure of falling asleep to the sound of waves.
