“You pay an expensive price for the position only, not for the room quality”

First off, the name “Resort” is totally misleading—this place is more like a motel. The room was clean, but it really needs a full makeover. The restaurant shuts down at 7 pm, yet you can still order room service, which is odd since the motel sits inside a park and there are no other dining spots nearby. Luckily, a friendly guest pointed out a 5‑minute drive to a wood‑side restaurant that turned out to be a fantastic surprise—a starred spot with a great quality‑to‑price ratio. The front desk closes at 7 pm and reopens after 8 am, so at night you’re left alone in the middle of nowhere. The owner tries to justify the high price by pointing out the location between Banff and Jasper, but the motel quality doesn’t match the cost, and there are no better options in that area. You’re paying for the location, not the motel itself. How can the restaurant close at 7 pm and still offer room‑service food?

“I would stay here again, but only because of location (right at Abraham Lake)”

The location is unbeatable if you want to stay right at Abraham Lake—that’s exactly what you’re paying for. The meal I had at the restaurant was good (brisket sandwich). The room was very average: old, tired, and very basic, badly in need of fresh paint at a bare minimum. Generally clean, but there were a few tiny black bugs in the bathroom. You’re paying for the privilege to stay right at Abraham Lake, so that should be your only expectation in terms of value for money.
