We spent two nights at Novotel Nairobi Westlands while on our Africa safari. The staff were generally polite, welcoming, and helpful, especially Lan who assisted us with arrival and departure—his friendliness and professionalism left a great impression. However, the hotel fell short in several areas: the elevator stopped working one day, and after about 30 minutes of asking the reception, I was repeatedly told it was functioning when it clearly wasn’t; an honest explanation would have been appreciated. Housekeeping was also let down—no one cleaned our room during the day on the first night, and only around 5 PM did someone ask if we wanted it cleaned. The next day, when housekeeping finally came, they removed one of our pillows and the face towels without replacement. The bathroom ventilation seemed ineffective, and some electrical sockets were incompatible with thicker plug types used by guests from parts of Asia, which is problematic for an international hotel.

“Very nice hotel for a staycation”

The place was beautiful and very clean, but it was too expensive and the bottled water tasted odd, like borehole water.
