“Delightful room in a wonderful hotel”

We stayed in the tower room, which is stunning and ever so romantic. The bed is a standard double, plenty big enough for two and very comfortable, and the design of the room is charming, with great views through 3 windows. We were actually woken (not too early!) by a peacock who apparently uses the room's little private roof terrace as one of his favourite perches. The staff are wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. They provide free beach towels. And breakfast was superb, including home made marmalade and excellent coffee. This short stay was one of the really memorable highlights of our holiday - we already want to come back. There was really nothing not to like about this utterly charming room and fab hotel. It's a smaller room with no storage space for clothes apart from a few hangers on a rail, so if that's an issue for you be aware (it wasn't for us). And as with many hotels in Sri Lanka the bathroom was not completely private - but again, that didn't bother us (there are also private loos downstairs in the hotel if wanted)

“Espectacular”

I can’t say where to start. The Bartizan is perfectly positioned with everything essential nearby. The team is very attentive, and the room we booked was gorgeous. We stayed in the tower, which is small but full of charm. Since we arrived during monsoon season, there were few reservations and it rained a lot; on the day we had to check out, the manager invited us to have a late check‑out at any time we wanted so we could enjoy the room’s terrace, and the staff said goodbye to us with great affection. It was a wonderful experience. The only suggestion would be to improve the tower windows because they don’t seal perfectly; wind and water make noise and slightly wet the window sill.

“Excellent hotel, well located with great staff”

Breakfast on the very large balcony, helpful and friendly staff (special shout out to Andrew, the Manager, who was very visible during our stay and personally helped us with some transportation), location in the fort, right next to the sea, packed‑breakfast for our checkout day early start, afternoon tea. Internet was weak when we arrived, but when we asked about this, they quickly fixed it, so really this wasn’t an issue at all. Apart from that, nothing could have been improved.

“Magical hotel in heart of old town.”

Wonderful hotel with an old‑world charm located exactly where you’d want to be by the wall in the old town. Staff were wonderful and the room perfect for our needs. A small thing but a bar on site would be ideal so the top roof terrace could be used for sun downers.
