The country setting was lovely with a great view from my room, the old pub vibe was atmospheric, and the new accommodation was well built; breakfast and dinner were solidly home‑cooked.

The staff were friendly, the bedding was clean, the room was a good size and very light, and the book swap was nice, but the bedside lights were broken so reading in bed was difficult, and there was a lot of hair in the bath plug.
