They added extra charges on arrival, claiming a 10 % legal tip (which is odd because Booking always lists every fee!), and later guests who stayed longer were told to cancel for a discount so they wouldn’t pay Booking—an appalling situation with the reception clerk, a man of colour, who told me I wasn’t welcome after I offered to pay the extra 10 % only if it was justified and asked for a refund; I left while he was arguing with other newly arrived guests, a disgraceful experience I’ll never repeat. Everything mentioned above was written by people for no reason.

Punta Rucia surprised us pleasantly: far from the typical postcard beach, it’s beautiful, authentic, and very quiet. The hotel service was excellent, with the gentleman at reception and the young man who assisted us caring for us and giving good recommendations. The trip to Cayo Arena was incredible, unbeatable price compared to any agency or website, and we also liked the pool. The hotel itself is old, dirty, and neglected, but the surroundings are precious and few hotels exist in the area, so a major investment is needed.
