“Not quality standards”
The cabins look cute. We stayed one night and booked two cabins because we were three people, but each cabin is only for two. It’s not ideal if you’re planning to visit Samarkand; I booked it for a one‑night stay after returning from Shahrizab, drawn by the photos of the pools (we have a 9‑year‑old child). The pools belong to the Vavilon complex, a kind of water park. The slides are hand‑opened, rarely operated, and worst of all, they don’t end in a pool. There’s no security, no maintenance of the common areas (you can see the sides of the pools), smoking is allowed in a place for children, and loud music plays from 10 am to 11 pm. It’s a poor mix of a hostel and constant loud music next to it. Women should note that at the water park entrance there’s a dress‑code sign: no bikinis, no European bathing suits. No one tells you, but you’ll feel out of place, so I decided not to use the pools. The water is plastic, no maintenance at all. To reach the cabins, you enter the Vavilon water complex and then cross through the kitchen area, which is especially poorly kept. We had cabins 7 and 5. No sheets were provided, just a regular duvet (not very clean). Cabin 5 had a lock that was about to break. The bathroom has a drain in the middle of the shower area and a plastic carpet to prevent slipping, but it’s all covered in water when you shower. Let’s not talk about what we found under the one in cabin 7. It felt unhygienic the whole time. The gentleman running it is a good man and tries to help (he even paid for our taxi to the station), but the quality standards I’m used to are from another planet. Breakfast is good and has plenty to choose from.
