Everything was wonderful—the island is gorgeous, waking up right on the beach, and the staff are just beautiful! Nothing at all was lacking.

The beachfront was stunning and the water on that side of the island was spectacular, but the rest of the visit was a major letdown. As a repeat guest, I was shocked by how much the island had changed; a new block of accommodation is being built on an already tiny island, yet the infrastructure clearly cannot handle the influx of guests. Loud construction noise and generator hum filled the air, and we were alarmed to see an exposed sewage outlet running into the beach near our lodging. The boat transfer from the main island was a nightmare: even though we had pre‑booked, we were told there were no spots available because the boat was full of day trippers. After insisting our confirmed booking be honored, we finally boarded, but other guests who didn’t insist reportedly had to pay an extra AU$600 to arrange alternative transport, which is unacceptable for those who had already paid. Day trippers kept arriving around 10 a.m. and stayed until about 4 p.m., dominating the island and making it hard to enjoy the peaceful experience we’d expected as overnight guests. Lunch was a letdown, clearly aimed at the large number of day visitors on an included meal package; the food was below standard and far from what a four‑star resort should offer. The staff seemed neither happy nor engaged. The worst part was when our young son became unwell and had trouble breathing; we had to leave the island on the last night because no doctor was available. We received no follow‑up to check on his health, and the resort didn’t proactively offer a refund or alternative accommodation. We struggled to get responses through WhatsApp until someone eventually intervened, and we now understand a refund for the unused night has been processed.
