“Sexual harassment by the male owner”
The hosts started off friendly, but the male owner’s behavior changed completely when his wife left for the night. He joined us at a BBQ we hadn’t invited him to, offering wine, and when he went to the bathroom he grabbed both of my shoulders as he passed. I was confused and didn’t know how to react, but later his conduct became even more unsettling. Even though my boyfriend sat beside me, the owner touched my legs with his foot under the table in a caressing motion; this happened twice. The second time I was sure it wasn’t accidental and confronted him, but he just stood up, cleared the table, told me to be quiet because it was late, and went back inside. I rang the doorbell repeatedly to get him to acknowledge what he’d done and apologize, but he ignored us for the rest of the night. The next morning his wife returned, and he refused to discuss the incident in front of her, insisting on a private conversation. He kept blaming drunkenness and claiming it was a mistake, yet I told him that three separate unwanted contacts were not a mistake and were completely inappropriate. This occurred on the fifth night of our six‑night stay, so we left a day early. He initially tried to deny a refund for the final night because checkout had passed, but after I explained we were leaving because of his behavior he refunded us. I found the experience deeply disturbing and traumatizing, and I cannot recommend staying here, especially to women. I never felt safe after being sexually harassed by the owner, who is older than my grandparents.
