“Pas satisfait.”
Only a few things were present, but the place itself was good. I had huge trouble locating it; the GPS gave conflicting directions and the coordinates were unclear. I called, but the voicemail offered no solutions, so I had to figure it out on my own. The room was tiny, and the ceiling was so low that it covered more than half the space. The shared bathroom was the same issue; there was less than 2 feet of clearance to stand, just in front of the sink and toilet, even though I am only 5 ft 7 in (1.7 m). Neither the hostel nor the host warned me about this. As a result, I hit my head on the ceiling at least eight times—softly because I was careful, but it still hurt. When I arrived, the owner was waiting and ready to leave; his wife wasn’t there and no one else was available. He briefly showed me the room and kitchen, handed me the keys, and told me where to park my car. He left quickly because his daughter was waiting for transport. I think I got there around 9 :30 am. I had a quick bite with a very friendly young Hungarian couple, felt a bit embarrassed, and took a four‑legged bath. I still laugh at that this morning. I sent a short message with a video to my wife in Canada and my four kids to make them laugh too. They’re shocked and surprised, but it’s fine. Then I slept. I’m heading to Zermatt, a two‑hour mountain drive, which I love. With the listed prices for Zermatt, I’m slightly worried.
