The bathroom right in front of the room was very comfortable, the common areas, kitchen, and living room were all cozy and fully equipped, and Gabriel from the staff who welcomed us was super kind and helpful.
Gabriel is a super welcoming guy and always ready for any request; he cooks amazing barbecues and can point you to great spots to visit! The place is cleaned daily, offers great value for a hostel, and the trip was unforgettable!
I stayed here a year ago and returned for two weeks; I love the Sol y mar community! Gabriel, the volunteer, was friendly and organized several meetups. The 3‑person room was pretty nice, the whole property stayed clean with plenty of bathrooms, and the location was perfect. I was learning Spanish, surfing, and kite surfing, all schools within walking distance, and the main nightlife area was also walkable. It can get a bit hot in the room during summers, but I had my own fan, so that was fine. The bed I slept on had a slightly broken bottom that should be fixed.

The hostel is well‑located near the city centre, shops, restaurants, and supermarkets; the volunteers do a great job, the place is clean and well maintained, and the lunch is simple yet effective. However, there is no pool even though a photo of one is displayed, which is quite misleading and disappointing, though it didn't ruin my stay; the rental bikes were unsafe to use because they lacked grease and the chains jammed, and the 4‑bed dormitory close to the glass bubbles and the street can sometimes be noisy.
