“אין לי מושג איך המלון הזה קיבל 5 כוכבים”
The water color was beautiful. I cannot understand how this hotel earned five stars. During our trip to Mauritius we had stayed at three different five‑star hotels, giving us a solid benchmark. This hotel simply did not match that level. The worst issue for us was the handling of my celiac condition. I explained to the staff repeatedly—at least ten times—that I am celiac and must avoid gluten. Each time they said the matter was understood, that there was no cause for concern, and that they would take care of it. Yet I was served gluten‑containing food and ate it. After that incident we spoke with the staff again to emphasize how serious the mistake was. They apologized and promised the matter would be addressed, even saying that the restaurant manager would personally oversee what I was served. Still, it happened again. After the second occurrence we lost trust in the kitchen and felt unsafe eating at the hotel. We had to leave and eat dinner elsewhere, even though we had paid for half‑board. In a hotel that claims five stars, this level of medical and dietary negligence is unacceptable. Unfortunately, beyond that, the overall experience was far from five stars. We booked a sea‑view room but received one where the sea is almost invisible unless you stand and look from a specific angle, so the room did not match the photos. After we complained they swapped rooms, but the new room had the same problems. The shower was clogged, and after a minute of running water the entire bathroom flooded. Even after they fixed the issue, the shower itself had no door and water leaked out during use. The food overall was very low quality. Breakfast was mediocre, with vegetables that were not fresh or clean, and the variety and quality were far below what we experienced at other five‑star hotels in Mauritius. The room itself was very basic and not luxurious. Over four nights we received only four coffee capsules for the entire stay. Flip‑flops, slippers, and towels were basic, the shower was basic, and overall the room did not feel like a luxury hotel. The gap between the pictures and reality was significant. The beach is indeed beautiful, but beyond it the hotel feels dated. The buildings, corridors, and rooms give more of a basic vacation village vibe than a five‑star resort. It is worth noting that we arrived in Mauritius for our honeymoon, and the hotel was aware of this beforehand. In all the other five‑star hotels we stayed at during the trip, there was a clear acknowledgment that we were honeymooners.
